Linear Motion Bearings

A linear-motion bearing or linear slide is a bearing designed to provide free motion in one direction. There are many different types of linear motion bearings.
Motorized linear slides, which include machine slides, X-Y tables, roller tables, and some dovetail slides, use drive mechanisms to move bearings. Non-motorized dovetail slides, roller slides, and ball bearing slides offer low-friction linear movement for machinery driven by hand or by inertia. Not all linear slides are motorized. Regardless of whether they are ball, dovetail, linear roller, magnetic, or fluid bearings, all linear slides offer linear motion. Linear motion bearings are used in X-Y tables, linear stages, machine slides, and other sophisticated slides to enable movement along the X and Y multiple axes.
